I see there is work in progress to get 0.9.10 into Ubuntu, that will contain the fix, if that does not make it into 14.10, we probably should add just the patch referenced.

Connect the USB modem. 2. Using the Network Manager, configure the mobile broadband network to connect automatically as soon as it's available. 2.
