I've just checked my 32bit Ubuntu 14.10 virtual machine on my Laptop (Dell Vostro 1510 running Ubuntu 14.04.1 and VirtualBox) and have found the correct keyboard layout UK English is selected. Not the US English that was causing a problem initially when 14.04 was installed. After the correction around #34 in the list above it hasn't recured on this machine and the problem never occured on the Dell Optiplex Desktop running the same software. I can only think there may be some problems with some keyboard controller hardware as it doesn't seem to affect all systems. I tried two different USB keyboards on the Desktop, the Dell one for the machine and a Packard-Bell one but both seem to work correctly, selecting the UK English layout as a first preference but without dismatling the keyboards I can't see if the same interface chip-set is used on both keyboards. I rechecked the 14.10 Alpha2 again after rebooting following this mornings updates and the UK English keyboard layout was still correctly selected. John
