With mir_demo_server, the surface remains invisible when client does:
mir_wait_for(mir_surface_set_state(surface, mir_surface_state_hidden)); //or
mir_surface_state_minimized
mir_wait_for(mir_surface_set_state(surface, mir_surface_state_restored));
//Or any of the other states where the surface is visible.
