I think this bug might be invalid. There is another bug which claims exacly the opposite thing. Also on my computer apport does not overwrite existing crash reports.
See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/160999 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apport in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798083 Title: apport overwrite previous crash report if the same binary crashes again Status in apport package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: apport Due to the naming scheme of crash file (path_to_binary.uid.crash) apport can just save one report for a particular program crash. When during a run, the same program crashes more than one time at different places, and the reports are not filed immediately, then the previous crashes reports are lost. --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: apport 1.21-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0-0.1-generic 3.0.0-rc2 Uname: Linux 3.0-0-generic i686 ApportLog: Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Jun 16 10:53:31 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.utf8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: apport UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-05-16 (30 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/798083/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
