@charles, since clock app cannot read gsettings, could you perhaps
expose this as a dbus settings (similar to the alarm settings
properties) that clock app can then read and enable seconds if
indicator-datetime is showing it?

Bug description:
  on Ubuntu touch when ever trying to set the clock to display seconds
  on the clock using gsettings, the value is getting updated but the
  clock is not showing the seconds.

  Following is the command that i used to enable seconds on the clock

  gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.datetime show-seconds true

  After this when i  check the value, it is showing true but the clock
  is not showing the seconds even after reboot
