I haven't encounter this issue anymore (now I'm on 14.04) and to say the truth I don't remember the pdf file that caused the problem.

I have tried: 1) to scale the document (via file -> print -> page setup -> scale) but it seems that the document is always aligned to the left so the result is the same (ovbiously the document has smaller characters because of the scaling but the first characters weren't yet printed) 2) to force A4 margin adding the to file -> print setup -> paper size -> manage custom sizes (I added a 2 inches of left margin) but it seems that this config is ignored during the printing. I made these tests with Ubuntu Hardy and with two different printer (but always with the same pdf doc) and the results are the same.
