Some more info. I run the shutdown from /etc/rc.local.
Tried to cancel it just now: tom@swan:~$ sudo shutdown -c Failed to talk to logind, shutdown hasn't been cancelled: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying second attempt all goes well: tom@swan:~$ sudo shutdown -c tom@swan:~$ Scheduled a new one for many hours in the future: tom@swan:~$ sudo shutdown -P 23:00 Shutdown scheduled for wo 2015-11-18 23:00:00 CET, use 'shutdown -c' to cancel. tom@swan:~$ No wall messages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512235 Title: shutdown -P 23:30 is never scheduled Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Any delayed shutdown command is never scheduled.
