BTW, I don't believe that tagging with arbitrary character sets is
supported. ID3 requires UTF-8, Latin-1, UCS-2, or UTF-16BE.

Title:
Error character set detection for Chinese

Status in unity-scope-mediascanner package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Some Chinese songs shows wrong characters (Not odd issue, about 30%
of Chinese songs show wrong characters in my phone)

The song attached which wraps codec "GBK" with "Latin1", so media-
scanner only shows the Latin characters.

But, Audacious(a music player in desktop) works fine, it is using
  libguess for character set detection.
