Title:
Indic characters are not visible
Status in Canonical System Image:
Confirmed
Status in ubuntu-touch-meta package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Ubuntu Touch is not displaying characters of many Indic scripts
including Bengali (except Devnagari). Any app or webpage containing
characters from these scripts are shown blank.
A quick examination of /usr/share/fonts showed that the required fonts
were missing. After I added fonts myself, rendering was okay. I am
proposing the addition of the following packages.
ttf-bengali-fonts
ttf-gujarati-fonts
ttf-kannada-fonts
These packages would allow the rendering of the most popular indic
fonts in use.
