Title: make emergency call facility more friendly Status in “dialer-app” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Currently, if you attempt to make an emergency call *without* unlocking the phone, you get presented with the dialer with all options disabled. That is to say, you cannot change any options or access the addressbook. This is clearly the safest strategy but in a real emergency scenario it may be advantagous to loosen the security slightly. A few thoughts: (1) Allow the user to call any "ICE" [1] entries in the address book. If we wanted to be extra cautious, we could potentially only show the name of the users and never expose the actual numbers or other meta- data. Note that Android allows this by providing a special key on the emergency phone call keypad (bottom left) which shows a person and a flashing light icon. (2) Present the user with a panic button to call the local emergency services. If you are abroad and in an emergency scenario, you may not always remember the local countries number for emergency services. (3) Allow the user to take a photo/video but disallow them from actually viewing it (unless they unlock the phone). __________ [1] - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_case_of_emergency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1364482/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
