Tapping the Search button both reveals *and* focuses the search field. So if you are starting a search from scratch, the number of clicks/taps needed is exactly the same for the button as it would be for an always- visible field: one.
An always-visible search field would, though, be better for: * reassuring you that the current view is the full list, not search results; * doing other things in the header while using a search (bug 1606243). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to address-book-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1501714 Title: [address book] search field without clicking on the bouton Status in Ubuntu UX: Triaged Status in address-book-app package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When I am in my contact app, and I need to search someone, I need to click on the icon "serach" first. Why is that? I think it would be better if the field was already accessible. When you search a contact from the phone app, it is anoying to have to clik on another button.
