After years I gave Networkmanager again a chance and kicked it out again
immediately.

Why is it starting dnsmasq with --no-hosts? I found nothing to disable
this misbeave.

I can't see any reason for doing this. It sucks only when I can not add
names to /etc/hosts.

Crutches like a wrapper script filtering out --host are not a really
acceptable solution.
