A workaround could be to recreate /usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/guestfs/supermin.d/init.tar.gz. So untar it, apply https://github.com/libguestfs/libguestfs/commit/fd60be95091a1923e108f72caf251f5549eeccd0 onto the untarred init file, compress it again and copy it back to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/guestfs/supermin.d/init.tar.gz.
