What happens - sound fails randomly. Playing flash video typically, but other sound as well. Sound stops - for no apparent reason but sometimes when I manually adjust the volume. Look in Sound preferences - no hardware. Reboot machine, hardware is there under sound preferences and sound plays for a bit. Then it fails and hardware is showing under Sound Preferences. Checked AlsaMixer hardware is there. Pulse audio crashing - tried restarting it (sudo service pulseaudio restart) but no change.
