Laptop suspends when closing lid with an external display plugged

Bug description:
Story: when an external display is connected, and the lid is closed
the system is suspended like if there were no external display.
Environment: unity8-deb on zesty
STEPS:
1. Connect external display(hdmi in this case)
2. Close the lid
3. Check the external display
Current result: session locks and you get the unity8 login page
Expected result: session does not lock when an external display is connected
