Laptop speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in

Bug description:
On my Asus K60IJ laptop with the Intel 82801 audio controller, I
cannot get the laptop speakers to mute without also muting the
headphones. This problem was SOLVED under Natty by the packages in
the ubuntu-audio-dev repository, but that repository hasn't been
updated for Oneiric. Updating the repository is one solution, but a
better one would be to incorporate those corrections in the main line
of code.
