Title:
System freeze after docking and display configuration change

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have been having regular system freezes after switching from using
my laptop stand-alone to waking it up on a docking station with an
external monitor. I have seen this using two identical docking
station plus monitor combinations. I am still trying to find a
pattern. I often find the laptop going to sleep again immediately
after being woken up. When it freezes, the screen saver is visible on
the internal display and the external monitor is (I think) enabled but
blank. I saw this with 4.13.0-13-generic, and have not yet had the
chance to test it with 4.13.0-15-generic. I have also not had the
chance yet to try to ssh in.
