When I wake my laptop from sleep, nm-applet shows eth1 as a wired network. After a reboot, everything is back to normal. I also discovered, if I kill NetworkManager, rmmod ipw2200, modprobe ipw2200, then start NetworkManager, eth1 regains wireless status. The entire time iwconfig shows eth1 as being a wireless device.
