simple mir client hang on shutdown until I VT switch to server

Bug description:
I don't like how mir demo clients hang on shutdown, if I VT switch
back & forth.
Steps to repro:
1. VT1, start mir_demo_server
2. VT2, start mir_demo_client_egltriangle
3. VT1 - verify triangle aspinning
4. VT2 - hit Ctrl+c
Expected result
Client quits immediately
Actual result
Client hangs. I need to switch to VT1 to make client shut down correctly.
