debug error log attached. I believe the failed print job starts at 03/Jul/2018:12:22:01.
I've also discovered in the course of reproducing this that it appears to only be affecting jobs printed from evince, and not e.g. directly from chromium. I don't remember if I had tested printing directly from chromium before. So perhaps this is an evince bug rather than cups proper. And this looks possibly relevant.
