I cannot select LPD/LPR printer any longer in the desktop GUI, and I can't find if and how to do it from the command line (or even editing a configuration file). I have tried various alternatives such as IPP generic text-only but nothing gets to the printer, typically the spooler reports printer idle but not ready. The printers all have basic Centronics parallel interface, connected to the network using LPD/LPR print servers, not a chance of changing this infrastructure which has worked flawlessly and under Windows (even W10) for years.
