Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Title:
"properties" -> "open with" - defective statemachine

Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 16.04.2: The statemachine of the "Open With" dialogue in is
defective. To open this dialogue reightclick a file, click
"properties" and select "Open With" tab.

The behaviour of the button "Set as default" is correct. After
clicking that button, the behaviour of the "Add" button is also
  correct.

But clicking only the button "Add" after opening the dialogue without
click "Set as default", it shows the wrong behavior. Clicking "add"
does always the same like clicking "Set as Default". Clicking "Set as
default" one time repairs that behavior.

Why that? There are two problems.

Clicking "Add" does have the behaviour like clicking "Set as default"
to have one "Default Application" set, if no "Default Application" is
  set. That is correct.

1st problem: This dialogue starts in state believing no default
application is set. But the already set default application is listed
as "Default Application". That means, clicking "Add" does the same
like "Set as default", when it should not.

2nd related problem: Clicking "Add" to set the "Default Application"
the first time, does not set the state that the "Default Application"
is set like clicking "Set as default" does. So the 1st problem is
  repeated.
