  the new 2.28 gnome-volume-control suppressed the "line-in as output"
  option which is necessary to me. i've been scouring the web for hours
  looking for a workaround, but to no avail.

  is there a way to cleanly get back to gnome 2.26 as the jaunty mixer
  was fully functional ?
