Title:
[GeForce GTX 1080] 18.04 DisplayPort 15m cable no display
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
related: [GeForce GTX 1080] 17.10.1 DisplayPort 15m cable no display after
starting "EFI VGA"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1747488
related: [GeForce GTX 1080] 17.10.1 DisplayPort 15m cable monitor flickering

See related bug reports.
The same behavior is seen with Ubuntu 18.04.
Setting `nomodeset` in the grub kernel line is the only way for the
installer to be displayed. If `nomodeset` is not set, the installer
will boot into full resolution 3440x1440 and no display is able to
reach the monitor.
