Headphone jack doesn't mute built-in speakers

Bug description:
When I plug headphones into the headphone jack, the built-in speakers
do not mute, although they do in Windows. Also, headphone jacksense is
missing. I am guessing it's because there isn't a physical mute that
disables the internal speakers when the headphones are plugged in.
From what I remember, Windows 7 uses a Conexant driver.
Using 10.04, but I had the exact problem in 9.10.
