Title:
  E-mu 1212m - alsa modules not working

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: alsa-base

  Description: Ubuntu 10.10
  Release: 10.10

  alsa-base:
    Candidate: 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4
    Version table:
       1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 0
          500 http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages

I recently bought Emu1212m pci-express soundcard based on emu10k1 chip.
According to alsa documentation this card should be supported on my current
kernel
  "2.6.35-27-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 22 20:25:46 UTC 2011 x86_64
GNU/Linux".

Unfortunatelly during system startup alsa modules fail to launch with
following message:
"EMU10K1_Audigy: probe of 0000:02:04.0 failed with error -5" (see config
attachment).

I tried to recompile the kernel with alsa stuff compiled statically but I
still get the same error. I also tried to compile newest version of alsa as
described in http://
  www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix_Talk:Module-emu10k1, but after
invoking modprobe command I got lots of messages about wrong/unknown symbols
"Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)"

Soundcard is fine, because it works under win systems.

  Hardware configuration: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P, Core I7 920
