Title:
  [ATIIXP - ATI IXP] No sound on Ubuntu 10.10 with AC 97

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I´ve just installed Ubuntu 10.10, and I have no sound. I tried
  installing Kubuntu 10.10, as well as older versions of Kubuntu and
  Ubuntu, but I didn´t have sound with those either.

  The result of:

  $ alsactl init

  is:

  Found hardware: "ATIIXP" "Analog Devices AD1986" "AC97a:41445378" "0x1043"
"0x1183"
  Hardware is initialized using a generic method

  Performing a test sound from
  System::Preferences::Sound::Hardware::Test Speakers does not work. It
  doesn´t give me any error or warning, but I hear nothing.

  Everything in kmix and alsamixer is unmuted and set to maximum.
