Title:
[Realtek ALC1200] No sound thru speakers (hdmi); sound only thru
  headphone jack

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have no sound in my system. When I connect headphones to the
headphone jack, I get sound (thru headphones). But I want sound
through the speakers (inbuilt in moniter - HP2228h) connected by a
hdmi cable. Works well under Windows. So no hardware problems.

Recently installed Ubuntu 10.10. Was with Fedora 12 before. Under
Fedora 12, I downloaded the latest alsa driver, changed the file
'patch_nvhdmi.c', to include the following two lines at the
  appropriate place.

  { .id = 0x10de06e0, .name = "My HDMI", .patch = patch_nvhdmi },
  MODULE_ALIAS("snd-hda-codec-id:10de06e0");

And I got sound through speakers. With Ubuntu I tried the same trick,
but then aplay -l did not show any sound devices (and I had to
reinstall the entire Ubuntu system; didn't know how to roll back).

  Please somebody help me.

Thanks a lot for your advice.
  Prasad.
