No sound after fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10

Bug description:
Sound was working when installed Ubuntu 10.04. Had trouble booting
(i.e,. with wubi) after upgrading to 10.10, so did a fresh install of
10.10 from a CD.
After fresh install, sound no longer works. I'm only using
headphones, and my sound card is reported as "RV620 Aduio device
[Radeon HD 34xx Series]", which I presume is true.
