Intermal Microphone not working on Dell Latitude 2110

Bug description:
Cannot get the internal microphone to work on a Dell Latitude 2110
running Ubuntu 9.10, this is similar to bug #563215.
I have tried loading 10.04 and using the solution posted in #563215 it
then worked, however I need to run version 9.10 as I have a lot of
Dell 2100 machines running 9.10 (internal mic works with no problems )
with other software and now this machine is discontinued i want to use
the new Dell 2110 which comes with 9.10 pre-loaded.
Also tried loading linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic without
success.
