Intel OnBoard sound not working

Bug description:
I was using Ubuntu 10.04 at that time. After a power surge failure
eth0 and onboard sound stoped working. I use an Ubuntu 8.04 LiveCD and
they did work, but not in 10.04 and not in 10.10.
