I can confirm I have an exact same issue in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/2341 when login with wayland selected. After applying this: https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/8ce25208c3f4adfd290a032c6aa739d2b7580eb1 patch locally I can confirm it fixed my issue.
