Title:
[HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD91BXX, Speaker, Internal] Playback
  problem

Status in ALSA driver:
  Unknown
Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am running 14.04 tusty dev off a live usb.

I noticed when trying to play a youtube video
The sound only plays from the subwoofer on the laptop and does not use the
speakers on top of the laptop above the keyboard.

When reporting via apport-bug the tone played back did not alternate,
but instead would play a tone then nothing then play the tone again
  then nothing.

When in sound running a sound test at full volume the front left test
does make a barly audible "front left" statment comeing from the left
top speaker. Clicking test for front right plays back from the
subwoofer under the laptop instead of the top speaker.

Expected behavior durring the test would be to hear alternating sounds
between the speakers instead of sound and silence and when running the
sound test the left and right tests would play back from the top
  speakers corresponding side.
