Title:
Ubuntu doesn't detect Mic2 is plugged in, also not amplified. This can
be done manually, but not very userfriendly.
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
When running system test, when you speak into the Microphone, I use
Mic2 which is on the front of my PC. Mic1 is in the back. In order to
get system test to work we must change the recording device from the
sound properties to Mic2, then amplify by about 50%. Works flawlessly
after this. A fairly trivial bug, but might confuse newbies since it
doesn't auto-detect.
