Title:
[HDA Intel, headphones playback] Headphone playback does not work on
  MSI Wind (snd-hda-intel, ALC1200)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  How to reproduce:

  - Run "pavucontrol" to access the card controls.
  - When headphone jack is plugged out, output device automatically changes to
analog speakers and the speakers work normally.
  - When headphone jack in plugged in, output device automatically changes to
analog headphone, volume is up, but there is no sound.
  - With headphones, I get sound if the output device is changed manually to
analog speakers in pavucontrol. In this case, sound is only on headphones. This
is a workaround.

When ever I change volume in pavucontrol it produces this message in
  standard output:

** (pavucontrol:19827): DEBUG: Ignoring sink-input due to it being
designated as an event and thus handled by the Event widget

I do not know if it is related to this bug.

Workaround by manually specifying a snd-hda-intel card model:

  Adding this

  options snd-hda-intel model=targa-2ch-dig

to the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf solves the problem. Now
the output device changes from analog speakers to analog headphone
when the jack is plugged as described above but it works correctly and
the speakers and headphone volume can be controlled independently.
There are some additional devices in the mixer that my card does not
have but otherwise the targa-2ch-dig model seems pretty compatible
with the MSI Wind sound hardware.

Maybe it can be worked out at the pulseaudio level preventing it to
automatically changing to headphones when the jack is plugged in, but
it seems the bug is at the driver level since the targa-2ch-dig model
  works in a better way.
