Title:
  sound card not detected anymore

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  I had 10.04 installed on a partition, sound card detected and all
  worked fine. I installed 10.10 on another partition (doesnt changed
  the 10.04 partition) and system sound was working (did not tested any
  other application for sound). System sound was working for a few boot
  and then one time i rebooted and ubuntu did not find my sound card. I
  went back booting my partition with 10.04 and same problem over there.

  The way i knew system sound was working on 10.10 at the start is that
  when the login screen appeared it maked a sound.

  Now I cant even see any sound card in lshw, lspci,
  system->preferences->sound->hardware.

  When sound was working the only thing i can remember of that was about
  my sound card was that I had "HDA nVidia CONEXANT Analog, HDA nVidia
  CONEXANT Digital" and other devices that I could choose with phonon
  and also I think that thoses devices were in
  system->preferences->sound->hardware.

  I searched everywhere and could not find any solution. I try "sudo apt-get
purge linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils; sudo apt-get install
linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils" and it did not fix the problem.
  In system->administration->user and groups->advance settings->user
privileges->use audio devices is not set.

  I can provide any information you ask for
