Title:
[Realtek ALC889, Green Headphone Out, Front] crackles immediately or a
  few seconds after (un)plugging

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
After plugging my headset into (or unplugging from) the green jack in
front (either immediately or after a few seconds), the sound begins to
crackle on VoIP calls. This happens both with Skype and Jitsi (SIP
protocol). Other audio, such as music from Rhythmbox, remains
  unaffected.

Workaround: I discovered that the problem goes away immediately upon
adjusting the "Output volume" slider in the "Sound settings"
configuration. As soon as it's moved left or right, the sounds clears
and reverts to normal. Muting and unmuting doesn't work; it's
actually necessary to move the slider.
