Title:
[HP EliteBook 8440p, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Speaker, Internal] Underruns,
  dropouts or crackling sound

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I did a sound test (Sound Settings -> Test Sound) for Speakers, Built
in audio. I hear no sound from the left speaker but a crackled sound
from the right speaker. When I test sound with headphones, I hear the
sound properly from the left speaker, but no sound from the right
  speaker.

Earlier the speakers were working fine. They stopped working completely, so I
added the following line at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:
  options snd slots=snd-hda-intel
