Dell XPS M2010 [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] No sound at all

Bug description:
I cannot find an answer to this problem. The volume icon shows up but
I have no sound through the speakers. I have checked everything and it
should be working. From my internet searches this is a problem for the
xps m2010 but i have not seen a solution. Can someone please help me
get sound working. I am using ubuntu 12.10.
