Title:
PCI/internal sound card not detected. alsamixer not found

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Emachines M6811. On fresh install it seems that some of my drivers for
this old laptop were missing, can't really be too mad about it because
even I am amazed that this thing is still running. I have managed to
fix the wireless firmware missing problem, but this one seems to
really giving me a difficult time. Kind of new to linux so I have been
following guides, just now trying to append snd-via82xx to the
  modules...

  aplay -l shows:
  aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...

  lspci -v shows:
0:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237
AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)
        Subsystem: Rioworks Device 2032

        I/O ports at 1000 [size=256]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
