Title:
  [CS4281 - Cirrus Logic CS4281] Playback problem

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
This is a fresh installation of UBUNTU Lucid Lynx 10.04 on an IBM
  ThinkPad X21 Notebook.

The Sound stutters and skips passages when playing music usinf either
Rhythmbox or MoviePlayer. The Music files are MP3 and played perfectly
on UBUNTU 8.04 installed on this same computer.

After discussion on the Forum, I tried two suggestions:

  1) "I got it working a little better by clicking
system/preferences/startup application and un checking Pulse Audio
sound system. Then re-booting. Looks like this version of Ubuntu has
more Pulse audio sound problems." .... This did not improve the
  problem for me.

  2) "....... click System/Preferences/Main Menu
Scroll down to System/Preferences then on the right click on show Multimedia
Systems Selector.

Now in your system/Preferences you have Multimedia System Selector.
Click that and set Default Audio output to another selection.
Alsa is currently working pretty well for me."

This didn't improve the problem for me either.

I would be happy to perform any tests you may require to try to fix
  this problem. Best wishes, Robin
