software-properties-gtk crashes: dbus.proxies error

Bug description:
Expected: software-properties-gtk should launch properly; instead it
crashes and doesn't launch.
Out of the blue, I couldn't open Software&Updates so I checked the
output of software-properties-gtk which is:
