Restart from within GUI gets stuck sometimes

And this happens some of the time, not all the time.
It seemingly gets stuck at random points of the process too (sometimes
it gets stuck while shutting down - other times it gets stuck after
boot begins.
This is a new phenomenon that I never experienced before I reinstalled
a fresh one from by live disk yesterday.
Note (a matter may or may not be related): I disabled the graphics
during boot and noticed that that there are "ERROR" lines when it
loading (even when the restart is succesful).
