After I changed the BIOS settings of PS2 Keyboard init from Auto to
"Full initialization", the issue seems to disappear.

Title:
After a wake up from a sleep extra keys are typed

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have an old keyboard with a PS2 connector attached to my PC via a
  PS2-USB plug (yes, I'm a dinosaur).

Each time the system wakes up, typing on a keyboard starts by
prepending an extra key - typically "8" although other keys and key
combinations were visible. This behavior does not happen in a normal
  boot until sleep is requested.

It's even hard for me to type a description because extra chars appear
  while typing.
