Andrew, the verb approach doesn't work here as smart amps are being used. The tas2781 smart amp is generally supported as of kernel 6.6... but now it's a question of if firmware for your laptop is available.
Without your alsa-info, I can't tell if your laptop is supported... But you can just try the firmware for yourself from here: https://neo-zeon.de/~hiryu/tas/firmware-6.6.tar.bz2 Just copy the files into /lib/firmware/ and reboot. Hopefully you have sound. A number of Lenovo laptops with tas2781 are supported, but I don't think the list is anywhere near comprehensive so we'll see..? Good luck! I'm not sure if these firmware files are yet in the pipeline to be commonly redistributed at this time... I'll see if there's something I can do to get that process started.
