Public bug reported: Deleted snapd snaps have started showing up in the side bar of my file browser (nautilus). And they are quite a hassle to get rid of.
This week's deleted item - there was another one last week -is listed in the side bar as "53 MB Volume". Clicking on it pops up a message that reads: "Unable to access 53 MB Voume: Error mount /dev/loopXX at /media/username/disk: /dev/loopXX already mounted or mount point busy" (I have replaced the username and loop numbers here). The deleted snap also shows in the side bar of the "disks" app. I can manually delete it there but that does not remove it from nautilus. I takes a reboot. These leftovers are missing from the output of snap list --all and systemctl list-units. Neither is the item present in /var/lib/snapd/snaps. For example, the ghost snap currently appearing in nautilus is snapd-24938.snap. No sign of it when I run snap list --all: snapd 2.70+g131.275c63d 24962 latest/edge canonical✓ snapd, disabled snapd 2.70+g137.f900a7e 24975 latest/edge canonical✓ snapd Running systemctl list-units | grep snap-snapd likewise reports only snap-snapd-24962.mount loaded active mounted Mount unit for snapd, revision 24962 snap-snapd-24975.mount loaded active mounted Mount unit for snapd, revision 24975 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 25.04 Package: systemd 257.4-1ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.14.0-23.23-generic 6.14.5 Uname: Linux 6.14.0-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.32.0-0ubuntu5.2 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Jul 4 04:00:43 2025 InstallationDate: Installed on 2025-05-09 (55 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 25.04 "Plucky Puffin" - Release amd64 (20250415.3) MachineType: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
