I can replicate with a clean install of the daily. However I am seeing this behavior even when I disable the apparmor profile, and reboot, and can verify fusermount3 is unconfined.

On login, whether an installed system or a live ISO, fusermount3 runs at 100% CPU for a few minutes. This is whether the system is Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu and whether running on bare metal (old Acer travelmate 4740) or a QEMU/KVM VM. It's especially noticeable on the Acer, which is not exactly overpowered. After a few minutes, it goes away and the system settles back into a low-CPU-usage state. I'm assuming that this is an apparmor issue, on the basis of the kern.log snippet below, but I actually don't know and it could be something else. 2025-07-14T12:29:30.356949+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.354:230): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2298 comm="fusermount3" capability=1 capname="dac_override" 2025-07-14T12:29:30.356963+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.354:231): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2298 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:30.356964+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.355:232): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2299 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:30.507045+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.505:233): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2363 comm="fusermount3" capability=1 capname="dac_override" 2025-07-14T12:29:30.507058+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.505:234): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2363 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:30.507059+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452970.505:235): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=2364 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:31.820945+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: rfkill: input handler disabled 2025-07-14T12:29:33.270952+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: input: spice vdagent tablet as /devices/virtual/input/input6 2025-07-14T12:29:42.925880+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452982.924:236): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=3292 comm="fusermount3" capability=1 capname="dac_override" 2025-07-14T12:29:42.925965+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452982.924:237): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=3292 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:42.925998+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452982.925:238): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" class="cap" profile="fusermount3" pid=3293 comm="fusermount3" capability=7 capname="setuid" 2025-07-14T12:29:42.927893+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452982.926:239): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" class="file" profile="fusermount3" name="/run/mount/utab.lock" pid=3293 comm="umount" requested_mask="rc" denied_mask="rc" fsuid=0 ouid=0 2025-07-14T12:29:42.927902+12:00 ubuntuB kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1752452982.926:240): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" class="file" profile="fusermount3" name="/run/mount/utab.lock" pid=3293 comm="umount" requested_mask="rc" denied_mask="rc" fsuid=0 ouid=0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/2116834/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
