Currently using 14.04. Previously used 13.04 and 13.10. None of them showed/are showing such behaviors.

On cliking the icons in the system-tray, the dropdown lists appear, Only that the active icons are not highlighted on mouseover. This problem occurs in the system settings window as well and is present irrespective of the device (mouse/touchpad) I use.
