Erling Hansen, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1386415 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. If I try to boot into "normal" ubuntu, I am stuck in tty1. Nothing works here, and I have to make a brutal restart of the PC. I have of course tryed all combinations like ctrl+alt+Fx etc. No way to eacape except for the brutal restart. So far I have not found any usefull tricks on the web, and by now I think i have tried everything. What happened to the kernel or the upstart procedure from 13.10 to 14.04? As far as I can se, I am not alone with this problem.
