I am experiencing exactly the same behaviour with Suspend from the menu and automatically suspending resuming normally.
I do not have a sleep button, though running 'sudo pm-suspend' results in a glitchy launcher on resume. I first noticed the unity launcher glitching issue when I attached suspend to a hot key which runs this command: dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower" /org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1427831 Title: Graphics Glitch after suspending and resuming, only when pressing the sleep button Status in Unity: New Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Running Ubuntu 14.10 Going to the menu and clicking on the 'suspend' button, causes no problems on resume. Automatically suspending after a given time also has no problem. However if I press the sleep button, it resumes with pixels of all colours randomly populating the screen. When I move the mouse after that, my screen goes to sleep (like when the computer is turned off). After moving my mouse again, the lockscreen displays as normal. 'sudo pm-suspend' results in only the Launcer having random coloured pixels on it. The checklist testing app had the same result. Clicking on a window reprints the launcer. Attached is an example.
